What are peoples oppinions on the pump?

Hi Brooke
Welcome to this wonderful place :)
I personally love the pump and would not give it back.
At the beginning, it is more work, since you have to fine tune everything into place, but if used properly, can be a great tool, to work with your diabetes.
Some people suggest getting a CGM first, so you know your BGs better and can therefore set the basal better.
I definitely encourage you joining the Pump groups here to find out more.

Here are some discussions from the main forum that were similar to your question:

I definitely suggest you reading through the main forum or the pump groups to get a better idea.
