In the US, the Congressional Diabetes Caucus co-chairs are leading the effort to craft legislation that will have an impact (hopefully a beneficial one) on insulin pricing.
I was on Capital Hill on Thursday, May 2 with about 20 others (4 groups of 5 Diabetes Patient Advocates) as we spoke with staffers about pending legislation. Nearly all the staffers we spoke with were interested in seeing the legislation come forward as soon as possible.
Encouraging your elected representatives to join the Congressional Diabetes Caucus is important to getting the legislation through the sub-committee and committee processes ASAP.
We had an impactful leave-behind document for the staffers, showing that for our group of 5, there was a $20,000/year out-of-pocket expense for insulin - including insurance!
