Basal out of whack after stopping birth control?

I stopped taking my birth control (Loestrin/Ministrin) last week and I’ve noticed that I’m running a bit higher than normal overnight (eg 110-120 instead of 70-80) these last few days. Could the two be related? Incidentally, I’ve been tinkering with my basal but the only change has been to increase the rate in certain blocks of time.

Could the two be related?

Since you have two major changes in the same period, it is impossible to tell for sure which was the cause of the change you saw. However, both from theory and my personal experience, stopping hormonal medication (which birth control is) definitely produces a change in insulin needs. As we know, insulin is also a hormone and the action of any one hormone impacts the rest in a fine balance, so what you are noticing is completely normal. You just have to experiment further with the basal rates until you achieve the BG you aim for.
