My medicare supplement insurance does cover my CGM.
Medicare supplement insurance does cover CGM. Dexcom G4 is what I am currently using with insurance picking up the bill.
If you have Medicare insurance through a retirement plan from your employer you can get coverage. If you have traditional Medicare or an Advantage Plan, you will not get coverage for your CGM. I would like to know what your supplemental insurance is.
I thought CGM's simply were not covered; T1, T2, insulin dependent or not...didn't matter. We won't have any retirement benefits when my husband retires (General Motors no less!!) I would also love to know what supplement covers a CGM. Just my opinion, I'm sure the company is doing what they can, there's so much that goes on behind the scenes, if they don't have the $$$ to pay for lobbyists it's difficult to get anything done. I figure, it can't hurt to contact your congress person, that's what they're there for, for YOU.

Type 1 for 53 years. I called Medicare and they say they do not cover cgm in which the supplement plans say no. I am looking for a plan I can afford I have no employers insurance. My present insurance is 1000.00 per month and was hoping I could save considerably on Medicare. I do not go on Medicare until July. I am researching the different plans. I was told I should go on Supplement F. This is very stressful figuring it all out.
I will not go on Medicare til July-doing research now. Now I am paying 1000.00 per month for an HMO. I was advised to go to supplement F. I have had diabetes 53 years been pimping almost 15 and just started the cgm. I do not feel lows like I used to. I am a widow so I can not afford what I am paying now , so I feel if cgm not covered I would just have to go without.
Is there any chance you live anywhere near a "Senior Citizens" center - where they help people on Medicare and people that will be going on Medicare navigate all the different supplements and which one to choose?
I am also on a insulin pump (Medtronic Revel) and a Dexcom. The Revel is paid for as is the insulin for the pump, but the Dexcom is "self pay" as the CGM system is not covered. The other thing that is not covered, as yet anyway, is the OmniPod. I was using the OmniPod for 3 years prior to entering Medicare 3+ years ago. As a result I had to transition from OmniPod to Medtronic Revel=best thing I ever did.
My husband and I have AARP and Mutual of Omaha. We live in IL.
Does not matter what supplement you have. CGM is not covered. We went to the Department on Aging and got guidance as to which plan was the best. I am healthy and chose a Medicare Advantage Plan. My husband chose straight Medicare with N as his supplement. It was less expensive then F and pretty much covered the same atuff…but nether cover a CGM.
