Blood sugar readings

Sorry if this has been discussed or is a dumb question, but, is there any time difference between a sugar reading on your monitor of choice and the real time number? As in if I check my sugar and it is say, 75, is it really that or could it be a different number (lower/higher) at that moment and the reading is a few minutes behind…Does that make sense?

Yes, I think so. Sometimes I test when I feel low and I’m not. Then I check again in ten minutes or so and the meter DOES show a low reading. Also, your meter can be as much as 20% wrong. So if you feel low and the meter isn’t showing it yet, you might want to check again pretty soon, or eat a very small amount- say 5g to prevent you going too low.

Thanks Libby!
