I felt the message from my rep and his assistant was "You were denied. See ya." I asked if there was information on who who to write, group to join to get Medicare's attention and heard "There's some legislator working on it. I think he might be from NJ."
So I was very happy to see this email. Anybody know if there is someone organizing a campaign for coverage?
Dexcom is great if you have insurance not tied to Medicare. Initially they thought I had what they call "secondary" insurance. In that case the Dexcom would be covered by the secondary. But if yo have a Medicare gap or supplemental policy it follows Medicare's guidelines. If Medicare won't cover it, neither will they.
They just don't want to go the extra mile and steer you to a place where your voice can be heard. I'm hoping this will change.
For all the ACA is doing, I feel like I did 10 years ago when I couldn't get insurance and ended up on Medicaid. Out in the cold.
I have heard that you may have a better chance with Medtronic. It was because you were replacing a meter or because you mad a case for having your pump turn off when a preset lower limit was reached. Don't really know about this.
