I get my annual eye exam (where they do everything but remove the suckers from my head and bounce them around the room. Just kidding... they do that, too) every summer. But this summer I forgot. I was really busy and I got this great new job :) and so far my eyes are always fine and it's really inconvenient... Well, in my inbox here at DHF this morning I found a reminder AND an huge extra incentive to do it:
VSP Global Integrated Communications is offering up to 50,000 gift certificates to the Boys and Girls clubs throughout America, a value of $19 million. One gift certificate, covering an eye exam and glasses for a child in need, will be donated for each eye pledge made. It's an easy and proactive way to promise to take care of your eyes, and help a child in need at the same time.
I pledged! Now I just have to call Dr. Ai (no joke. That's my ophthomologist's name).
I pledged, not sure, if Canadian responses are accepted ?? I will re-do , if all it takes is to add name of my city ( instead of Canada as I did .) A wonderful easy way of helping those in need out .
I had my appointment this morning : in short form : NO diabetic retinopathy ; continue with drops for glaucoma ;visual fields and HRT’s (I have to check out again , what this means ?) are all stable .20/20 R. eye, 20/30 L eye .Pressure R eye 14 , L eye 18 .
I used to be Lion member …collected used eye glasses for those in need was part of the norm .There is as well a collection box located in my Specialist’s office .
OOOOOO, I have had my share of the eye doctor…but I pledged and I will have my eyes checked, lasered, injected with a needle, and continue to carry on and keep my Peepers!!! xo
I think the really bright light thingy that they look at your retina with, that usually produces a sort of floating retina (backwards?) image floating around your head is cool. Then again, back in the days, we’d get loaded, listen to wierd music and sit on the floor staring at strobe lights when we had wild parties. I had several and we’d just hold the in front of our faces, all sorts of afterimages flying all over the place…
Emily …you mentioned your eye Doc’s name is Ai. …my present dentist 's name is Chu …I knew of another Doc., who did vasectomies …his name was Chui too …different spelling .
I love it! My mom used to have a gynecologist named Dr. Cherry, and I had one named Dr. Sharpe (only went to her once. I just couldn’t get past that name). This is fun! We should start a new forum topic…!
