Chronic Ankle Pain

Type 1 and LADA New to Type 1 Diabetes

Hello,
My son was dx’d August '08. He is almost 11. He always complains of ankle pain. The Doctor looked at his ankles and said they look okay, but ordered an x-ray to be on the safe side.
Does anyone else experience this as related to T1?

I’m not a doctor and I don’t play one on T.V., but my first thought for ankle pain or any joint pain is not diabetes, it’s sports injury or bad shoes. See an orthopedist.

There is such a thing as ‘growing pains’ and young boys are prone to injuries if they’re active. Besides having diabetes your son is subject to all the other issues an 11 year old faces.

I thought “growing pains” too. He wears a good pair of shoes and the Dr. recommended some tendon strengthening exercises to avoid injuries during sports.
