Considering pregnancy at 40 (T1D for 35yrs)

Hi folks!

Not sure if this website is even running anymore but if I’m lucky enough for anyone to see this.. I’m considering having a second child at age 40 (I’ve left it late, I know). My first pregnancy was at age 36 and I was petrified the entire time of everything going wrong and me failing my child. LO had to come out at 37 weeks as they were 99th percentile despite my very well managed T1D. But LO has been nothing but fantastic! The only reason I left it late is because he refused to sleep better until recently

My current hba1c is 7… but I know a lot of work is required to knuckle down. After meeting my first one, it was so worth it. But I’m even more terrified due to my age and being diabetic for so long.

Any stories or tips or insights to share?

TIA

Welcome here and, yes, that is a problem: The administrators solution is beyondtype1.org but many of us prefer For Unlimited Diabetes because it is based on the same principles as TuD and the same software so it looks, well, kinda the same.

I can’t offer advice on pregnancy, sorry; it’s a genetic condition I have
