I think we all want a cure, but at the same time realize no one knows when one is coming. I am a member of an organization called the Juvenile Diabetes Cure Alliance whose mission is to help find a cure within out lifetime - hopefully by 2025. We believe that yes, it is possible that we see a cure within the next 15 years. This will largely depend, however, on the diabetes community standing up and telling the nonprofit organizations that we want to see a cure and the money that they receive in terms of donations should be used for that purpose. It is up to us to change the way things are going, otherwise there is little hope that we will see a cure through the current methods.
We have to do this together.
