D for Dummies: Basal Rate

As soon as I open my eyes in the morning, I reach for my continuous glucose monitor that sits by my bed. I like to assess how stable my blood sugars have stayed throughout the night and also see at what sugar level my day will begin; a good blood sugar in the morning is like starting the day with a clean slate. Of course then I check my blood sugar for real, yes with a needle, and give myself insulin for breakfast. It’s a routine I follow day in and day out.

Yesterday I woke up to a pleasant surprise. My sugars had stayed completely even all night long with hardly any fluctuation. I felt so exited that I took a picture and thought, who can I brag about this to? Continue reading here...
