Dia Friendly Restaurants/On the Go Food Spots

So, not that original and not what I really wanted, but we stopped at Red Robin in Coeur d’Alene yesterday for lunch. They do all of their burgers “Wedgie Style” (dumbest name for a lettuce wrap I’ve seen yet), and you can get steamed broccoli instead of fries. So, my lunch yesterday was a Marco Pollo lettuce wrap chicken sandwich, two orders of broccoli (they’re “never ending”) with drawn butter. Total stats (according to myfitnesspal) were:

Calories–349

Protein–35g
Carbs–16g
Fiber–6g
Fats–33g

So, it worked out pretty well for my moderate carb, high protein diet! Wasn’t the tastiest lunch I’ve had, but it wasn’t bad at all. And wasn’t expensive either, so I’ll definitely put it on my list of “diabetes friendly lunch joints” for future work trips to CDA (or wherever else they have such burger joints).http://www.redrobin.com/menu/full-menu-rrtrh2/finest-burgers/the-marco-pollo.html

Nutritional information is widely available but what I’ve found is it lies. Or distorts. It’s based on how something is carefully weighed and measured in their test kitchen. And thats not what’s happening in your neighborhood kitchen. So, I tend to instead order low carb and have less room for error. Red Robin, Applebee’s, Chili’s, Panera… All have low carb options available.
