Diabetic retinopathy tied to time in range, study finds

Type 2 diabetes patients with the most advanced diabetic retinopathy cases had higher glycemic variability measures and spent significantly less time within a glucose range of 3.9 mmol/L to 10.0 mmol/L per 24 hours, as measured by continuous glucose monitoring, according to a study in Diabetes Care. Researchers used a cohort of 3,262 patients and found significant associations between all stages of diabetic retinopathy and time in range.
