Lantus doesn’t even last 24 hours for some… again, it depends on the doses. Smaller doses are less likely to last a full 24 hours.
I’ve been on all the insulins listed, and I am on Apidra now… it’s been the best insulin for me so far. I’m quite happy with it.
NPH …nobody , that I know likes the stuff …I got a chuckle when I read this on TU ; cannot recall who explained the abbreviation : Notorious for Producing Hypos…can laugh now, not when I was using it till I started to pump in 2001

I had a couple a scare one night with lantus which i have been blaming on the 2 hour basketball practice that evening and my meter being way off, when i dropped from 96 to 26 in 15 min after only taking my lantus. I guess that it might have been the lantus and nothing of my own doing.
Thanks Marps for the great breakdown! Very interesting. I take Novolog and Lantus MDI…not sure how all this effects me on first read, but interesting to keep in mind and try to figure out. And I feel you about how your Drs insisted it was 24hrs…how frustrating! And much like the meter issue…“oh, what’s the difference of 20 points?” It was like your Drs saying, “oh, what’s the difference of 4 hours?”
WE all know the difference of both. HUGE!
