Okay so after 2 and a half years I am finally getting my DM tattoo (and 2nd tattoo overall) in a month or so. It’s going to be pretty simple and on my wrist. But I have been debating for a long time if I should have it face me or not. I understand that if you have it on your forearm or further up it shouldn’t face you so it can be read easier but for some reason that just seems awkward on the wrist. I plan on continuing to wear my ID necklace most if the time so it’s not exactly for ID.
What do you think? If you have one on your wrist- which direction is yours?
I have a medical alert tattoo on my left inner forearm. Mine is facing away from me so that people who need to read it, i.e. medics, can read it properly. If it's not a medical ID then it's personal preference which way it faces. For example, I have another tattoo on my right inner forearm, which is a memorial tattoo for my brother, this one faces me, as it's for me to look at and remember him, more than it is for other people to read it. I guess it boils down to why you're getting the design you want.
I am planning my T1D and plan to have it on my forearm near my wrist, facing away, for the same reasons the other folks have listed.
Do any of you know if any insulin pumpers out there add anything to their tattoo that has anything to do with being on the pump? Like "pumper" or "insulin pump" or something like that? Just curious. I suppose I will be a diabetic for the rest of my life, but not sure if I'll be on a pump for the rest of my life. Something better might come along in my lifetime (I am hoping). Thanks!
