Dizziness For three Years

Thanks, Alan, I do agree with what you have said. My only excuse for sticking with the higher dosage BP med for three years is that I feared that I would have kidney problems. I did not have any diabetes related complications. and I did not want my kidneys to be the start of a downhill slide. When the dizziness started I did not know it was due to the BP med. My doctor and my neurologist did not know either. After 3 years it was finally found that the BP med was to blame. Then I took action and got a second opinion from my endo. She prescribed a very low dose of Lisinopril, and I have been in good shape ever since.

My problem is also the autonomic neuropathy. I wasn't aware of that when I was having the worst BP problems and going super low. I kept trying to tell the stupid doctors. The one, I even told him I wasn't taking it and if he would cut it in half, I would try it. Instead of cutting it in half, he handed me a script for one twice as strong. I swear doctors need hearing aids!

Richard I am really glad that you have your dizziness figured out. I know it is not fun!

WOW, Kelly! So did you stop the BP med completely, or did you eventually get a low dosage? I would have bought a pill cutter and devised my own dosage at home.

I stopped the BP med completely Richard. I switched doctors after the one that gave me a higher dose and the new one had me trying it in the afternoon. That didn't work either so I just stopped, which doctors don't like since I am diabetic. I still have problems with low BP but not as bad as when I was using the BP meds. I actually have a pill cutter, but it was hard to use even before I had neuropathy so I am not even going to try with neuropathy in my hands. I figure if they want me to take something and it is available in a lower dose, they can write the script for it. If they refuse and write the script to cut the pills in half, it goes in file 13.

Sounds good, Kelly. I have a shelf in my kitchen cabinet with several meds I no longer use. I think I will start calling it shelf 13. lol!

I have one of those also - I didn't think to call it shelf 13! I keep meaning to ask my pharmacy if they have a way to destroy them.
