Does anyone in this community know where I can donate Insulin to people who can’t afford it or need help with insulin here in the US I would like to donate insulin for people who are in need
Insulin for Life is one non-profit that accepts insulin donations. There are requirements regarding expiration date and shipping details.
If memory serves, IFL is the only organization that can receive and redistribute insulin donations in the US, and even then they can only be used for last year’s hurricane and fire victims (they had to get special permission from Congress). Generally speaking all insulin donations leave the US because of current federal law.
Personally I leave my “donations” at the free health clinic who just happens to “find” the insulin a soft sided cooler with ice packs on the receptionists counter. I have also advertised on CL and based on my perception of their need vs ability to pay just given the insulin to a stranger.
