Dual Bolus and TAG

I’m new to pumping so please be patient with me  What is Dual Bolus and Tag?

Awesome! Thanks … I will read over this!!

Dual and square waves are basal delivery for combination meals that are high in protein and/or fat. You accomodate the carb coverage in the first couple of hours then get additional delivery of insulin for the 3,4,5,6 hour metabolic process that converts protein and fat to glucose. Some folks also use these delivery systems to cover larger meals. The individual who is assisting you with your carb to insuling ratio for the pump can help train you to use these methods.

Tag is a support group on tudiabetes that provides a spreadsheet to help you manage carb/protein/fat and insulin doses. Some of us who are using another hormone injection called symlin that slows the metabolism have to use charting in order to avoid BG lows. I wish I had the TAG spreadsheet when I started pumping as it helps you learn how to manage the fast acting insulin that’s both the basal and bolus med. See if charting this way can help you when you next see your pump nurse - the download from your pump and meter won’t provide the whole picture. Sweet little boy Jana!

Is this similar to “Super Bolus”…? Ive been testing this as of late with some limited success in eliminating spikes after meals. Mainly meals over 40-50g of carbs. What are your thoughts?

Thank you for the link! This forum has everything I have been wondering about for a while. As I get more up to speed with the current trends, I can, and will contribute more. I just like to see how something works before I give a recommendation. Thanks again for the warm welcome!
