You may consider finding out if a local diabetes association has an education program for police. Does anyone come into the police station to give a talk about how to tell the difference between a drunk and a hypoglycemic diabetic? If so, you may want to share your experience. Then I would write the police station / file a complaint explaining how dangerous it was for them to take this valuable time away from the urgent situation. Remember, if the person / police officer is not diabetic or knows one very well, they do NOT know how important this is. Also, they come across the lowest of the low (people wise) everyday of their lives on the job. They are used to be told half truths, no truths etc.
Non diabetes don’t know what this is like - something that we ALL know here. That doesn’t exempt the police for what they did but in part may give a clue of why they were idiots.
