i get intermittent weak/lost signal for now apparent reason. though sometimes for sleeping in a strange position. it can’t hurt to change the charger battery and re-charge. i know that my signal weakens long before it will give me a low battery alert
Is the Hypafix watertight? I have issues when my sensor sites get wet.
The cgm was pretty accurate throughout the day. Of course I was so conscious about it reading everything that I was extra “good” with my eating today. So much so that it buzzed me with a low predicted. It was actually pretty handy b/c I was at work and wouldn’t have stopped to test otherwise. I did feel like a low coming on so I grabbed a laffy taffy rope and went on with work. Naturally, since it’s 20-30 min. behind, it buzzed me that I was actually low by the time I was recovering. I’m curious to see what goes on at night. I’m having a decent sized dinner so I’ll see how that works as well.
I’m bummed that I can’t use Care Link with my MacBook Pro.
What # do you have your low glucose set at? If, it’s not warning you in time you can set it at a higher #.
I have it set at 75 to allow for the delay. Any higher and it will drive me insane. When I was low it was moderate, like a 68-70.
I didn’t know that carelink didn’t work with macs! that stinks, i’m getting a macbook pro as my new work computer. guess i’ll have to keep my dell around…
I know, sucks right? My husband just surprised me with one for my birthday. It would be so much more convenient but maybe they’re working on it…
Is there a way you can put a second operating system on the Mac? I don’t know much about Macs but I recall a friend doing this before…or something like it.
Yep, I like upper front and inner thing bc it isn’t in the way when I sleep and seems to work pretty well. It is pretty close to the meter and pretty consistent. I do “lose” the sensor sometimes.
I use this flesh-colored Nexcare Absolutely Waterproof Tape - a couple strips - one across the sensor and one over the transmitter toward the top bc I am kind of inattentive and get the transmitter caught when I pull my pants over it.
I was thinking about trying the inner thigh. It works just as well? Btw, I forgot I was wearing it the other day and bsically yanked it out when I pulled down my pants. Had to change it. Also, I never feel any pain at all but sometimes when changing my clothes or pulling them down for the bathroom I notice dried blood on the sensor.
Not sure but I’m not so savvy. I do have a PC desktop in the house, it’s just more cumbersome to bring my things there as opposed to just bringing the laptop to my room.
The back of the arm is the most accurate of any spot according to many in the CGM business and that has been my experience also with the MM CGM I use. As far to the back where there is s good amount of fat is the best place, accurate, consistent and last much longer.
Hi Niz, Tom and other Mac users,
I have also complained frequently/loudly to Minimed that Carelink only works with Internet Explorer/Windows… but they don’t seem to be moving fast on a Mac version. My work-around is to use “Parallels” on my Mac, which basically runs Windows on my Mac. I don’t know if Parallels came standard or if it was one of those handy things my hubby installed before I inherited the laptop… Anyway, I just boot up Parallels and then my Mac looks like a PC and uses Internet Explorer to get out on the internet, and hello Carelink! Every now and then the upload seems slower or cumbersome and I’m not sure if it’s because I’m “tricking” the Carelink USB into working on a Mac… but it has worked okay.
The Carelink uploads and 2 other programs Windows-only are all I use the Parallels for.
