You know it’s a sad thing when our so called Goverment will give Crackheads FREE needles and supplies and want help people who have a diabetics and need help getting or paying for their medications or supplies.But our Goverment can give millions to another country but yet they CAN"Y OR WANT help people who need it in their own country.This has gone on long enough and we need to do something about!!! Every one of us on this website need to band together and tyr to do something.What can we do about this problem? If u have any suggestions please fill free to leave your comment.Thanks
I agree 100% with you Cory…the people who put themselves in a situation like taking crack on their own free will should not be getting everything paid for, with all the money the government spends on giving away free needles to these types of people they should be taking that money and putting these people into rehab of some sort and NOT encouraging them to keep doing what they are doing. This may sound ignorant to some people but i am a strong believer of helping yours first then if you have the money help others…there are children everyday dying of starvation in our countries and yet we can overlook this and give to other countries to help them, how does that make sense?These topics make me so angry
The government is a fraud and a joke anymore…I dont understand whats going on…but its staggering to think that they allow this… Would a good parent support a childs bad habbit? I just dont understand this country and its morals anymore. I am going to write my congressman about this…I surely better get a good explanation for this outrage!!!
And I dont even think these crack heads should have anyone pay for anything…such as rehab…do you know the cost of that…thats another thing that outrages me. Why should the government take care of anyone who doesnt take care of themself…I am talking of adults…why give people something if they dont want to work. Where is the insentive for us…I got a emale the other day and I am going to post it on my blogs for those interested in viewing…I think I am going to send that to my congressman too! Its really no laughing matter! I am very frustrated with our government now…I wonder how much is left for the hard working American…they seem to be taking it away from him and quickly. Are we going to let the Government do this to us? As far as what to do…we need to contact everyone we know and continue to stay on this…contact your states house of representatives…congressmen and President Obama…thats all we can do…maybe start a petition! Lately, I’ve often thought about changing my name to the Bank of Scott or Scott’s Insurance and see if I can get a bailout.
I agree, I know my Grandma is diabetic, and she will just go without checking her sugar, or getting testing supplies when she is out d/t being on such a fixed income. Of course she is proud and tries to hide that she can’t afford it!! It is so frustrating!!!
I completely agree with you 100% I use to get insurance through my state under my moms name well after I turned 19 they said they wouldn’t cover me anymore so i went 2 or 3 days without my medication in ended up in the hospital in a coma. My mom called a free clinic to see if they could give me some or anything to help me and they said they couldn’t give out needles unless I was a drug addict. Now I live with my boyfriend and we went to DHHR and had to file that I am disabled so I could get insurance because there are no jobs hiring full time to get health insurance.
I’m in Canada…but to tell you the truth, I really don’t put much faith in ANY government. Supplying needles to someone who chose his/her situation when there ARE some out there who cannot afford to care for an illness that was of no fault of their own, is absolutely disgusting. People in affluent societies still die because they either have to choose between eating or putting their money on medical supplies.
Well Cory I just wrote to my Congresswoman and give her what for about the free needles to the drug addicts, not sure it will do any good, but it sure felt good to get it all off my chest. If we all write to some one maybe it just might help.
Just sent a letter to Obama, will keep sending them until something is done. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. One small step might just make a difference.
It is super frustrating that there are so many programs that take our tax dollars by gun point and give them to other countries. We have no choice about not paying taxes, we will end up in jail if we don’t so that is what I mean by gunpoint.
The best thing we can do to initiate change in policy is to get involved locally as well as on a state level. These means voting, volunteering, and staying in touch with what your local and state lawmakers do. When the time comes to vote for the US Congress, be informed about who is running and what they stand for. Consider looking at other political parties, not just the republicans and the democrats, you may find a candidate you like better this way. Many people feel they their vote doesn’t count but if we band together, we can cause change to happen. It’s the sitting back and saying “oh well, there is nothing i can do” mentality that so many of us get stuck in. We have power as a group, we just have to own it and wield it! Freedom isn’t free and I think we forget that. Let’s take responsibility and fight for our rights and freedoms. We can do it together!

I have many trains of though on this topic. I have been a diabetic since 1968 and have seen the health care diabetics receive go down the tubes in America. When I was diagnosed, we had no health insurance at all and my mom had 6 kids to take care of alone. She worked hard to just keep us with food, clothes and shelter. When I got sick, she did not have the money to take me to the hospital but their was a county health nurse that came to our house and worked with me to learn about what I needed to eat and medicine I needed to take. She taught me how to give my shots to myself. Then I went to live with my grandparents who had very little money but lots of love to share and they got help through the County Hospital and donations of office visits from their doctors. At that time Insulin was not a prescription drug. You could actually buy it over the counter. Disposable syringes were not affordable yet so my needles were sharpened and sterilized and glass syringes boiled and stored in alcohol. But we did okay. We knew little about diabetes and my urine sugars were high most of the time. Blood sugar had to be taken at the hospital or doctors office and were often not affordable for them.
People helped each other out because it was the right thing to do. You were not denied health care for being poor, old or sick. Now the money has made diabetes research better and people are supposedly living longer. But the stats, do not include the people that die each year from the complications of diabetes. It is listed as cardiac arrest or kidney disease. With the research we have now, and the diabetic products available now, we (diabetics) should all be living a longer and more prosperous life. But NO!! America now punishes people who are too young, too sick, or too old to hold down a job and pull their own weight. We no longer help the underdog to become stronger. We give to those who will not help themselves instead of those who are not able to do for themselves. People who are in need of medical care or supplies should not have to worry about how they are going to pay for them.
I have done without medical care and medicine because I couldn’t afford it and was too sick to seek it for free. There has to be an answer out there somewhere. We are proud Americans and we have done the impossible in the past. We need to make the insurance companies into non-profit organizations that employ Americans and do what insurance companies were designed to do, which is to spread the risk of being sick out among everyone. They should find the best health care for everyone, pay for our doctors and hospitals to make it cost affective, pay incentives for ideas, of saving money, to their employees on the little things that count not on diagnostics or medicines. The truth is that all men are not created equal. If it were so, kids would not die of cancer, old people would not suffer from malnutrition and my pancreas would work like a normal persons.
If our President would take some of that so called stimlus money and give it to people who can’t afford their medicines or sullpies in stead of giving it to the auto companys, banks and ect then we might get by.
I called my congressman today and taked to him about the problems that were having paying and getting our medicinesand supplies and u wouln’t belive what he told That was nothing he could do because if the goverment couldn’t make any money off of it was not worth doing.
I have sent another letter to the mayor of our city, I am going to start calling people on Monday. We really need to get this changed somehow.

ok even tho im young i know that people who give out need needles you need to stop its bad for yur helth so li,ke you need to leran how to stop doing what yur doing now be foryu die AND most of yu have kids so yu haveto think about them sometimes sooo plz help me with sime school thing and tell me were yyu get yur needles
This is a late reply, but just getting back into life…It is frustrating…unless you sit on your butt and do nothing, the goverment won’t help you. However, there are diabetes associations that will help if and when they can. For those who can’t pay for their testing supplies…check out your local diabetes associations. If they can’t help…maybe they can tell you where to go to find help. I am not sure what we can do. Unless our congressmen and women are personally touched by diabetes, they don’t see the “need” to do anything. Trust me… I have bees speaking for a little over 10 years and it is like pulling teeth (which would be easier) to get anyone to listen to me about diabetes! I get frustrated on a daily basis…sometimes hourly! We just have to keep bringing diabetes awareness to the forefront and keep talking and writing and pushing. Hopefully, someday soon… we will get someone to listen!!
