I removed my sensor once to clean and dry underneath it. That does not interrupt the data stream. I just placed it back in the sensor cradle. I did have to mash it pretty hard to get the two clicks, however. The lever arm used for the initial install is gone, of course.
I've continued to have more instances of ??? with the G4 than I did with the 7+ transmitter. When I switched to the back of my arms, it helped but did not eliminate this problem. I'm thinking it must be due to the thinner transmitter size. I hope Dexcom improves this weakness with future systems like the G5.
Thanks Terry! I think I will give it a clean with some isopropyl alcohol. I will try my arm next time as well, it sounds like a lot of people have had good luck with their arm.
Haha yeah I figured that is what you meant! Still getting a few hours of ??? one or twice a day. I wonder if it is just a bad sensor, hopefully it will improve after I switch it out. Will probably repost asking for more advice if this persists through several sensors.
If you're still getting frequent and/or longer lasting ??? readings, it is likely a sensor issue (if you've not had this problem with other sensors.) Call Dexcom and they'll send you a replacement sensor. If this happens a lot with more than one sensor, it may be a problem with your transmitter and/or receiver, so call Dexcom. They'll help you troubleshoot and figure out where the problem is (sensor?, transmitter?, receiver?) and will replace the malfunctioning part. At least that's been my experience. They've replaced a couple of sensors and one receiver without too much hassle.
