Palo Alto, CA - Google today launched the first of its topical medical sites, entitled “Googlebetes.” The site is focused on diabetes related news, articles and advertisements.
“It’s a play on ‘google bytes’,” says Assistant Product Relations Intern, Lila Farmhar. “Out of lots of choices, we decided to start our focused sites with a medical theme and chose diabetes because of its growing prevalence.”
The Googlebetes site will feature diabetes related advertising and searches will prioritize diabetes related websites, blogs, news articles and social networks, which will appear at the top of all web searches started at the site. Future plans for other medically focused sites have not been announced.
