I have a feeling I’m going to be in trouble when Eric starts school. I offer, for your consideration, the following exchange that took place last night.
I was attempting to get Eric to try something new at the dinner table: an egg roll. His response was, “I don't like egg rolls.”
Thinking a little Dr. Seuss might persuade him, I quoted from Green Eggs and Ham :
“You do not like them, so you say. Try them, try them, and you may! Try them and you may, I say!”
Eric’s immediate response — literally not skipping a beat:
“I will not try them, not today. Put them, put them all away. Put them all away, I say.”
To which I now add, OY VEY.
