Halloween Candy - Carb Counts

I got this from my CDE last week. She said, “Take it, you know you want it.”

I don’t claim that it’s completely accurate (especially since the size of a “fun size” can vary and I’ve already checked it against the bags of snickers/milkyway/twix and reeses/kitkat/whoppers I bought for trick-or-treaters and found different carb stats), but maybe it will help some of you get through the holiday more safely.

Melissa were your labels higher? I have nothing to compare it with as I willnot buy any candy until Saturday morning so that I will not get into it!

Thanks for posting Melissa!

I have received a gift of candy corn this week and I am using it to treat my lows until it runs out! I calculated one kernel is one gram of carbs.

No, they were lower actually. The tiny little mini-snickers and the like are significantly smaller little squares than the shortened fun size bars from my childhood. The carb counts on these bags listed serving sizes of 1-7(!) pieces and measured the following:

MARS Minis Mix (10.5 oz bag)

Twix - serving size: 3 pieces = 20g
Snickers - serving size: 4 pieces = 22g
Milky Way - serving size: 5 pieces = 30g
Milky Way Midnight - serving size: 5 pieces = 29g
3 Musketeers - serving size: 7 pieces = 32g

Hershey 50-piece All-Time Greats Variety Pack (27.5 oz bag)

Hershey’s Chocolate Bar - serving size: 3 pieces = 25g
Reese’s PB Cup (the large flat kind, not the small chunky kind) - serving size: 1 piece = 10g
Kit Kat - serving size: 3 2-piece bars = 27g
Almond Joy - serving size: 2 pieces = 20g

Now to make it last until the trick-or-treaters arrive… o_O

I’d budget the same for them. After all, they’re kind of a cross between a marshmallow and a jelly bean as far as size and sugar content.

Last year, I got a hold of these little candy corn-esque marshmallow pumpkins. They became my low food of choice until the bag was gone - which took less than 2 weeks. I think 3 pumpkins was supposed to be 17g or something, but I would inhale about 6 or 7 of them at a time and then spike. embarrassed blush
