Have Pump, Will Travel

#1

The pump will change my entire packing process! Summer trip is a comin’ up (Austria and the Czech Republic) – how and what do I pack for a three week trip to foreign places? The floor is open for suggestions…

That’s a good question. Let’s see:

  1. Double up on everything: put half of everything you will need in your carry-on and the other half in your checked-in luggage.
  2. Bring TWO meters: believe it or not, in a trip to Europe (Spain) we did in 2005, Manuel had his meter stolen and it cost us A LOT to get a new one. Put one of the meters in your carry-on and the other…
  3. Bring batteries for everything.
  4. Make sure to have a letter from your endo indicating you are diabetic, etc.

That’s all I can think of (for now).

How would I calculate infusion sets. Should I just assume I’ll change every 2 days (for safety’s sake) and double that? Also, do you guys take syringes, etc…just in case?

Absolutely take syringes…you can’t be too careful. Assume the worst and hope it doesn’t happen. I recently made a traveling post on my blog with a list and everything!

hope it helps, and have an incredible trip!
