A friend’s son, PWD type 1, will graduate college in May and wonders about his options for obtaining health care coverage, given that jobs are hard to find.
Any suggestions for him? Thanks so much!
Work for Benefits. There are some low paying jobs that have good insurance. He can always look in to major medical, discount programs, or perhaps a co-op.
If they haven’t yet they should check to see if their insurance will still cover him after graduation up to a certain age limit since I think some states have enacted laws to extend coverage.
He may also be able to go through COBRA (I know my parents had considered this right when I graduated from college, but I was able to stay on their plan until I was 23 and then I went to grad school…so I’m not really sure how expensive it is or how it works)
