About Health for America
The United States has one of the most expensive health care systems in the world, without the corresponding outcomes and high quality patient experiences to show for it. There is a tremendous need to improve outcomes and re-center the system on patients. Health for America (HFA) was founded to inspire the best and the brightest to work on this challenge through our unique fellowship program.
Since HFA’s inception, our fellows have developed uniquely innovative, patient centered solutions. Examples range from a convenient, collapsible spacer to increase medication delivery for asthmatics to a smart scale built into a bathmat to eliminate the burden of monitoring on heart failure patients by automatically collecting, analyzing and sharing weight trends. HFA fellows developed these ideas by working closely with patients in underprivileged communities in Kentucky, Delaware, and Washington, D.C. HFA has been nationally recognized from the Dewey Winburne Community Service Award at SXSW to the Inaugural Urban Innovators at the Aspen Institute for our novel approach in using technology and innovation to meet the needs of patients in underserved communities. Join us as we work to improve the health of our nation.
