High albumin levels in urine?

I’ve had two back-to-back urine tests with very high albumin levels in the results.
I am grief stricken and afraid.
How are others dealing with this?
I’m 30. I don’t want to die young.

I am sorry you are facing this issue. I have also at various times had higher than wanted or rising Urine Albumin tests. It is troubling and I certainly understand why. So yes, it is most concerning.

Now the good news, maybe. Get referred to a kidney specialist as soon as possible. I suggest this for two reasons. First often what alarms an endo, will be just fine in his eyes of a kidney specialist. Second, if you need treatment, they are the ones you want doing it.

The type of doctor you will want to see is a nephrologist - a medical doctor who specializes in kidney care and treating diseases of the kidneys.

More good news not all of these issues are really issues. Understand that not all kidney issues are diabetes related and not all diabetic kidney issues are life threatening. In fact, we have at least one member who was on dialysis for over a year and today has recovered acceptable use of her kidney function. This person has been a type 1 for over 40 years.

Please do not delay, if treatment is necessary to get it underway as soon as possible.

One more piece of good news. Each time my endo has sounded the alarm the nephrologist I have seen has said not to worry, there is not an issue. I felt a great relief each time, but if something showed up once again I would run not walk to the nephrologist immediately.

I wish you the very best and I please let us know.
