High Fasting BG

Hi. I have been a type 1 diabetic for 34 years. Recently changed from Humulin N & Humulog to Lantus and Apidra and then to Levemir and Apidra. (Lantus didn’t work well with me). My Levemir dose 18units morning. Apidra according to BG and carbs. Started Levemir on Wednesday. Fasting BG yesterday 15. This morning 10.2. It is way to high. Need Fasting BG to be 6.5 or lower. Should I increase the Levemir?? During the day BG is between 2.7 to 4.3. Please can anyone give some advise.
Kind Regards

Hi Riana,

It could be just one of those unexplained highs. But if your fasting BG is consistently high, you might talk to your doctor about taking split doses of Levemir. It will help bring your morning fasting under control. Taking more in the morning might cause lows during the day. I take Levemir immediately before bed & then another dose in the morning.

Sorry, so frustrating!

Thanks Gerri. I also think split doses will get it under control.
Kind Regards
Riana
