I'm a type1 diabetic and have been for quite awhile. Anyways, sometimes it is so hard to wake up in the morning. how do some of you get energy to move?
I have always been a morning person. I sort of loathe working out in the AM but have been doing it lately as I'm running a bit more and I run out of time in the evenings. Mostly I get going with coffee and music.
Simply put, work. Especially work that I love.
I always found that getting up every day and going to work, no matter what!, helped me. I find real pride in being there everyday, on time, no matter what. There are goods and bads, but I make a real effort to be at work on time everyday.
Oh, and alarm clocks with REALLY obnoxious ring tones (cell phone are fantastic for this) also help.
Is you bg on target in the morning? It seems harder for me to get up if I'm high or low.
Also, have you ever considered talking with your doc about sleep apnea. It's one of those undiagnosed situations where a person sort of stops breathing during sleep, totally disrupting the rest you're thinking you're getting. You have to go to a sleep clinic in order to be diagnosed, and if so, then wear a mask over your nose which forces you to breathe at regular intervals. I know of several people who insist that their lives changed for the better once they started treatment.
I'm a night person; always have been and always will be; it has nothing to do with Diabetes. Now I'm mostly retired so I go to bed when I want and wake up when I want (lucky me!). When I was working I struggled to get out of bed in the morning. No matter how I tried I could never go to bed early enough to get a lot of sleep. Fortunately I could make do with 5-6 hours. I would get up pretty much on automatic pilot. I was never able to think about work or the good things I would do that day that I looked forward to; I couldn't think at all. I just got up anyway, made my cappuchino and got out the door on automatic pilot. Somewhere around 10AM I'd suddenly feel a gear switch and I'd be really present.
Could you be a night person? We're a minority but there is nothing wrong with us, we're just out of synch with the rest of the world. When I could work a swing shift I was very happy. Most of the time I just dragged myself out.
I was never a morning person but my work schedule over the past 10 years turned me into one. I'm rarely in bed past 7:30 am these days. Not that I feel all that energetic, but after breakfast, a couple of cups of coffee, and a shower, I'm ready to go.
I've always been a night person too. I'm also retired, so make my own hours. The last couple of years, though, I find that I can't sleep in, but I sure can nap! I get 5-6 hours at night, then another couple late morning/afternoon.
I have lots of animals to take care of, if I'm not up and feeding them on time I hear about it.
I had my cat Lula (who just died at age 18) well trained; she was a night person too! She slept on my pillow until I woke up and then she got up to be fed!
I am NOT a morning person. It doesn't matter if I get 2 hours of sleep or 8 hours of sleep, lol I CANNOT get out of bed before 645 to save my life. But I have never been a morning person, even pre-D.
I'm a morning person and start my day around 4:00 or 4:30. I have had a busy life and now that I'm older it's just a habit. There is also the T1 insomnia issue and many of us suffer from this. I have had low energy levels every since my Dx but it's not life threatening and if you are competitive and want, want, want, you get up everyday put your armor on and start the battle...You can do anything if you want it bad enough (kinda of corny but true) it's also important for you to choose your own battles, it's much easier if your getting up to do something you like. It's easy to get depressed if your not fallowing your own path and having some spiritual strength has always been a big pulse for me.
I thought it was just me. I wake up super early my eyes just pop open and it takes until after lunch to feel fairly awake. Oh no a heavy breathing runner, just ran past my house, ha!
I can make it to lunch with out any problems but then fatigue sets in and I can't stay awake at my desk...even constant internet abuse has little effect, I'm thinking about taking a power nape on my lunch brake. I need rest more than I need the food I don't get enough.
My energy comes from my fire pager... the split second it goes off is the second i feel like i've been awake for a while!
I could sleep all day except when my sugars low I am wide awake that is the nay time I wake up early on my own
This is me to a T. I try to get up and move around my building at work when I can in the afternoon - that helps a bit. How I long for a little nap in the afternoon some days.
i am a night person but still need to get up 5am - makes it tough - when i did work a swing it made life great to bed at 2am, up without an alarm at 10am no issues - loved it
