How does caffeine affect diabetes?

I drink two (big) cups of coffee in the morning with my breakfast. And I experienced that I have to increase my insulin with approximate 20 % compared to the amount I need for the same carbs without coffee. But I’m also rather caffeine sensitive, why I don’t drink any coffee during the rest of the day. Caffeine sensitivity is very different from person to person…
So yes, caffeine has an influence on your BS.

Ya, I’ve only talked to a few other People on the net with the delayed DP, aside from my younger Brother. I know there are more. My Endo said it is not called delayed DP, just DP. I just happen to get it after I awaken. Once I figured it out, it was pretty easy to deal with.

I’m not sure if I could handle the type most Diabetics have. I would certainly try different dosages, different Insulins, different foods, less foods, lo-carbing, etc. As you probably have. I hear a pump might help with DP. You do lo-carb. That should have helped your DP some.

Great A1c that you have there. I’d probably be on the floor most of the time with that number. Some People are more sensitive to sugar and some tolerate higher sugars better. Just like some are sensitive to Insulin, as some are Insulin Resistant. Some improve with Better blood sugars, some get(their damage)worse. There are other differences. They are in the minority, so they aren’t mentioned much since the majority tend not to want to believe them.

There are obviously more types of Type 1 Diabetes other than Type 1 and Type 1.5. Same goes for Type 2. It’s kinda Nice not all being in the same box but I don’t think that the Specialists/GP’s want them all separated. Too confusing in discussions and complicating to have to go through and try to iron out and fix every detail. “No lets just ball them all together”. It’s easier.

I wish you Good Luck with that DP Gerri.
