When I was trained on my t:slim it was recommended that I charge the battery a little every day. But I found that not to be too practical for me. So now I just let the battery drain and then give it a full charge. The lowest battery % i've gone down to is 35% so far.
Has anyone gone much lower than 30%? How does the battery perform below 30%? I'm wondering if it drastically falls after 30% or if it keeps its strength at the same rate as above 30%.
I just got the t:slim and they told me to charge it for 20 minutes a day to keep it at 100%. It probably works just as well at 30% and I'm not quite sure why they say keep it at 100%. You know you can charge it from an outlet, your computer or your car. They also told me to purchase a "mini charger" in case the power goes out for any reason.
My problem has been if I charge for too long, the whole machine heats up too much, and I experience a decline in the potency of the insulin inside. So I've been trying to just charge a little every night in order to keep the pump cool enough not to affect the insulin.
I go below 30% more often than I would like to admit...drainage does not appear to be any different. I usually charge before showers or when changing cartridges. I also do not wear when I work out so I charge then as well.....I have had my pump since it first came out and battery still holds a great charge.
