Ok now i’ve havin some low blood sugars…which ok is normal i know for someone trying to get the hang of managing. But how low does it have to be before u pass out? My lowest thus far has been 32, where i was extremely shaky.
I think there is more to it than there just being some magic number that will cause you to pass out. I went 25 years before ever passing out - I had numbers in the teens and twenties and didn’t pass out. Even after I started passing out, I had a 13 but did not pass out with that. Last summer, I woke up to the EMTs over me and they tested me at 38.
That’s right, there really is no magic number, everyone reacts differently. I was down to 38 just the other night, symptomless. Gotta love hypo unawareness. Scary stuff.
al tho i am hypo only i usealy dont go above 5.6mmol/l the my lowest with out passing out is 1.0mmol/l but i get dizzy as heck when i go that low
I've been as lows as 0.6 (11 mg/dl) and felt fine (although I must say, I knod of doubt the meter accuracy on that one). Besides that I used to get down to readings like 1.2 (22 mg/dl) and 1.5 (27 mg/dl) and LO (too low for the meter to read) and feel totally fine as a kid and teenager.
I did pass out from a few lows, but no one stopped to test me during those times to see how low I was. I agree with the others, though, that it varies even for the same person. As a teenager I passed out because my blood sugar fell from 19 (350 mg/dl) to 3 (55 mg/dl)—at least that's what it was after I came around—in literally an hour. But usually that would barely be low enough for me to feel, much less pass out at.
I find if I have more than a few lows a week my syptoms really drop off. Yesterday I got down to 2.3 (41 mg/dl) without feeling low, which isn't good. On the other hand, if I run high for a few days and then get my blood sugars under control I can feel low in the normal range, and a reading like 5.5 (100 mg/dl) might feel low.
