I don’t think it’s that simple. Potato chips, ice cream, and coke are all vegetarian after all. To loose weight, you have to eat fewer calories than you use up in the day. There are a lot of different ways to do that, and different ones will work for different people. But that said, I still think we can all stand to eat more vegetables.

The answer depends on how you cook your veggies. If you deep fry and use a lot of oil, or if you use a lot of fruits and potatoes, you’re not going to have good control. If you cook with little to no oil (bake/use a non-stick spray/steam/eat fresh), you can lose weight. I think it is easier to lose weight for vegetarians, because we can eat our veggies raw. I’ve managed to knock off about 25 pounds in 3 months with a disciplined vegetarian diet.
