I just wanted to comment that your trials remind me of my experience three and a half years ago after my diagnosis. At first, I refused to test my blood (tried just using urine strips, until they stopped indicating anything). When I finally gave in to testing after my doc started me on a second med, I tried and, like you, had failure after failure trying to get a reading. I eventually got help from my pharmacist, who made suggestions, then walked me thru a test. I have had test failures from time to time, since, but that happens to everyone.

love my pharmacist. You also might want to look into seeing a CDE.

Thank you, Thas! I feel so much better knowing that. I bought more strips yesterday, too. I was only given 25 and have used 2 each time before giving up for the day, so I’m glad I have extras now. Attempt #3 tomorrow…

How do I go about finding one?

Found one! Calling Monday.

good! they will be able to really study your numbers, so make sure you’re keeping as detailed logs as you can stand to keep.

Got my appt for next week!!

excellent! like I said, I know it’s a pita, but taking a detailed log book will enable them to get a better idea of what’s happening. you might want to go over how you’re checking your blood. if you show you’re serious about taking care of yourself, they are much more likely to take extra time w you.

Please report back on how it goes!!

I’ve had one brand of strips where most of a vial wouldn’t let blood wick inside, and therefor no reading could be offered. You might want to record how many of your strips have a similar problem, so you can tell the strip manufacturer about it and possibly get at least one free vial of strips. You might also want to look at a strip that has already produced a reading, so you can see what blood wicked inside looks like.

Haven’t been here for awhile. My educator is awesome! She answered all my questions, and I have had several successful–and good–readings since, but they’re quite inconsistent, although my eating is. I understand hormones can have considerable bearing on that, too. I just had a 10-day period, and my readings were in the 130s, My lowest was 104.

that’s really fantastic you found a CDE you can really connect with. Maybe the mixup with the lancets was the lancets didn’t fit the device.

I know I say this all the time, but the BEST lancing device out there is the Fastclix
