Injecting through clothing?

I moved to the outside of my shoulders. White oxford cloth shirt fabric never bothers. Relatively fast reaction time, which I like. Several people have looked at me, to determine what I was doing. So, what ? Free country…

I too am T1D for 32 years and have not only shot throgh clothing but I use the needle at a minim twice (I know this is probably very frowned upon but so far 32 years and millions of shots later all see good.

Re: student nurse education—yer gonna die if you re-use needles! I do, too.

I’ve been injecting through clothing for 27 years in the stomach. No problem, I inject in front of co-workers and tell them I have to “shoot up”. Never had any problems with infections. I use one needle per day for Humalog, 3 injections on a good day, more if it gets high. I use another needle for Lantis, twice a day. I get the 31 ga 8mm 3/10 CC reli-on from Walmart, 100 needles for about $9.

When aloft in said airplane
Locomoting down the plain
Though it’s pale and can be smelly
I flip my shirt and flash my belly

I sometimes inject through clothing, depends how sore my Lantus has made my legs. Sometimes I need a look to make sure I avoid bruises. But when injecting Novorapid and Protophane (pre pump MDI) I would never undress. Straight through jeans, bulky jumpers, and I only changed needles once every 300u (one needle per pen). I still use one needle per Lantus pen, unless it really hurts or I’ve bumped it.
My occasional Novorapid injections (I pump 30% basal and all boluses) are through clothes.
No infections in nearly 40 years of D, though in the early days I didn’t inject through clothing, because I was on once a day Monotard…

It’s not rare for me. I do it too.

I have done this for years, just thin clothing. Has never effected me at any time.
Just use command sense when you do it at your site you use. 68 years and not complaining still going strong.
