Instruction vs what people actually do

Thanks everyone for you comments. Being new to pumping, I am inclined to follow the instructions. Yet, the instructions seemed silly. I am glad to learn about real people and how they manage their pump/insulin. Thanks again.

Little confused--what instructions seem silly? When to change, how to change?

The most important thing to grasp about pumping is that if something "mechanical" - bad site, bad reservoir, air in the line, etc.- goes wrong you'll be going high (200+) pretty quickly. The fusiness of the instructions reflects the fusiness of the situation.

IMO it is good to follow the instructions when you first start pumping. When you really understand how everything works, then it’s time to do things like change your infusion set and reservoir at different times.
