Insurance and non-belly sites

I have a question for the group related to non-abdomen insertions. I have heard insurance companies will not pay for treating problems if the device is not used according to FDA/manufacturer instructions – so if the sensor is put in the arm/thigh/buttock and a site infection follows the insurance coverage for the wound infection is gone. Has anyone else heard this??? Rumor was from an Aetna member.

this sounds dumb to me…
Jesse’s had site infections from his pump sets a few times…
the dr prescibed an antibiotic and an ointment…
the pharmacy filled it…
I dont really think the ins co cares…
unless of course a limb falls off from it…
then they might investigate???
