Introducing myself

No, we're wingnuts...

Sometimes when I want to "slack off," I just remind myself how incredibly miserable that DKA felt and how I'm still paying the hospital for the huge bill they sent me.
CDE's and CNP's are SOOO MUCH BETTER and more helpful than Endo's! So, bless you Lynn. Strive to be a human tranquilizing and assuring, it's so 1,000 times more helpful being "scolded."

I absolutely agree with you Dave. I don't have diabetes and I can never fully understand what it's like to live in your shoes. However, I also fully respect the numerous decisions each PWD makes every day that the rest of us blissfully ignore. I lead women's running groups, and I've had a few women with T2 and a couple with T1 on pumps participate in the groups and complete half-marathons. They earn the respect of every other woman in the group with the amount of planning and decision-making they put into every training run as well as the half-marathon race itself. We can't know exactly what it's like to have diabetes, but we can respect the choices of people who do have diabetes and honor their decisions. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to learn even more.

It's interesting that research on behavior change says exactly what you do: scolding and threatening doesn't lead to behavior change. Encouragement, support, and helping pinpoint motivation to change are the strategies that truly help people change their habits. Yet many providers still insist on scolding and threats. Big sigh.

oops, thank you for inserting the word "than" (in front of "being scolded").
Yes, I truly love my CDE, I truly love my CNP. But I think I'd be dead if it weren't for TuD. You ARE encouraging already just by joining TuD.
