Is it worth buying an insulin pump?

I needed 3 months back up for my cgm so they said… Later in the day after fictionalizing 2 months and using my meter for one… I as already approved! But indeed fictionalizing it was far worse!!!

Very simply, yes. A pump will change your life.

And, no, you will not save money. Except in the long term you will have less side effects of T1, lowering medical costs. But day-to-day? Pump supplies are costly.

If you are this new to T1 would recommend reading THINK LIKE A PANCREAS by Gary Scheiner as a good read to learn about all things D. And would recommend that you think about a Dexcom CGM first before getting a pump. It will help you learn what is happening between the snapshots you get with FS readings. You would be amazed at what you are missing. It will help you understand what your meal do and see what types and amounts of carbs work or don't work.
It gives a huge advantage before you move to lump and then while on pump makes it so much easier to setup and adjust.

yeah, i have already had several people suggest the book 'think like a pancreas' so i will try and grab a copy next time i'm out. Overall a pump sounds like a very positive thing, however i should continue to try to get my diabetes under control.

You can get the book from Amazon for e-reader if you want it now, is always nice to have paperback to thumb through as well. It would be my first investment, before pump and or CGM. Was huge for me with understanding what was going on and what to look for, what to check for, how to test basal, how to use meter to best advantage.
And for carb counting info check out myfitnesspal or calorieking,

Yes, i have just ordered it and hopefully it will come soon, as I'm looking forward to reading it.

After 28 years, I have experienced the best control and improved quality of life on the pump. I think the biggest benefit might be that you only have to take one shot every three days. Since your new, you might not have experienced overuse of an injection site but it can be painful and so inconvenient. The pump really allows you to minimize scar tissue if you rotate appropriately.

Yeah, i sometimes my injections hurt so that would definitely be a bonus. Thankyou for replying Michel.
