JDCA Survey results: People want money used for a cure, but fail to make stipulations

I made a post about the JDCA results on our second survey on Donor Intentions here: http://jdca2025.wordpress.com/2012/01/09/survey-2-donor-intention-results/

But I also wanted to see what TuDiabates members think of the result.

One of the main issues is that the majority of donors (75%) expect that their money will be used for the purpose they are giving it for (67% said exclusively for a cure), but at the same time, 66% do not make that restriction known to the major foundations.

This is what allows the organizations to spend the money for purposes other than what the donors desire, and is one of the reasons why the search for a cure is not progressing faster than it should. At the JDCA, we believe that this is something we all need to change - simply put, if you give money and advocate for a cure, make the foundations know that they must listen to your wishes.
