I have a difficult question and a complicated history. Since I am a post renal transplant patient, I take a cocktail of immunosuppressive medications. How will these meds impact the testing for LADA? Have immmunosuppressive meds ever been used to halt or delay autoimmune related diabetes (i.e. type 1 or 1.5)?
I'm not sure about if this has been used to treat type 1 in studies etc. but someone here mentioned that she was on these meds and it made her type1 much easier to manage, needing less insulin etc. So clearly it can play a role in stopping the autoimmune attack in some people I think. I don't know how they would affect testing, maybe not at all? If you have antibodies for type 1 I think they will still show up.
