Medicare Part B CGM coverage for people with Type 2

Medicare Part B covers CGMs for anyone who has diabetes and uses insulin. Any insulin. Does not matter how rarely you take insulin as long as it is part of your treatment plan. Medicare Advantage and commercial health plans have different requirements.

Part B pays 80% so the 20% copay for a 30 day supply is $68.32. Many people have a medigap plan that covers the copay. You can get CGMs from DME supply companies that sell them. Some pharmacies can bill Part B for CGMs depending on the company and the staff at the location you use.

This isn’t new news, I just heard someone mention it and realized I always assumed the requirement was “insulin dependent” when its not and figured I may not be the only one.
