Medicare Question

Dexcom CGM coverage only requires a visit with the doctor every 6 months. Pumps supplies are still every 3 months.

The actual requirement for insulin/pump supplies is within the last 90 days, a visit endocrinology. I fill my insulin Rxs at Walgreens. Walgreens requires the visit be with the provider who wrote the Rx. Doesn’t have to be the endo, can be nurse or other provider who works under the Endo.

I haven’t heard anything about how long remote appointments will be acceptable.

MDI requires visits only every 180 days, pumps are 90 days.

Yes, to the 3 month question. I think it mainly affects getting your supplies covered.

I have regular Medicare. My pump supplies were delayed once because my “last visit” date that they require had “expired”. In other words, too long since. They said they needed a new date. My next visit was coming up in the next 2 weeks, and I needed supplies! Several calls to my endo’s ofc, and it was solved. Medicare has always told me " every 90 days, not sooner."
