Message to all believers!

"Who are we?"Have you ever asked to yourself that? I had and to be honest that question was surrounding my mind everyday since the day I got diagnosed, because I am refering to US.
To the ones who live counting carbs, checking their blood sugar and need to inyect theirselves with insulin.

But diabetes or not, people seem to be seeking for this answer like if it meant something.
Well, I got to the conclusion that WE are everyone. We are fans, moms, daughters, friends, brothers, artists and believers because we are believers!

We go to sleep every night hoping that the next day we will wake up full of energy, atleast enough to stand up and do some exercise, We hope we’ll have the strenght needed to resist from eating that chocolate cake and I know we all wish someday we’ll come to a cure, actually that was one of my wishes for this 2010.

But do you know what else I know? I know we all believe this can happen but believers at the end we are just people living different without being different and remember never let diabetes make you feel different, don’t let it define or slow you down because it won’t if you never stop.

Who I am?
I am a diabetic but at the end it is just me.

By the way check out the video I made! –> http://dsandct.webs.com/apps/videos/videos/show/6453681-who-are-we-

Ever watch Popeye cartoons? seems appropriate

“I yam what I yam and that’s all what I yam”

Scott…you are great! Always make me smile with your humor.

ahhh… thanks Robin, but I’m really a mean, old man… /wink

I’m always glad and proud to see diabetics strengthen oneanother. Great video, too; Good luck always, Virgil

I am such a movie lover and from this question it brings to mind the last scenes in the movie “The Breakfast Club”. So if you have not watched it a must. But the premise of the movie is that these kids spend saturday in detention and they are to write an essay about who they are.

So the end result of there paper is something like this,

But we think you’re crazy to make us write this essay telling you who we think we are. What do you care? You see us as you want to see us… in the simplest terms and the most convenient definitions. You see us as a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal. Correct? That’s the way we saw each other at seven o’clock this morning. We were brainwashed.

So I think that line always sticks in my mind when it comes to diabetes because at one point or another we see ourselves through the eyes of others but only when we come to term with what we live with do we see a different person and we learn to appreciate that we still have something to offer to society. I have learned to see diabetes through the eyes of the many different people here. I know being here has opened up my eyes to the people who live with diabetes.

My thoughts on the subject

Just always remember “Everyone has a box of rocks to carry around” Some you see and some you dont!
