Does anyone else have problems swallowing these Metformin horsepills? I didn’t used to have problems getting pills down but these seem to get stuck down in my throat, like I feel something in there.
Sometimes with horse pills I cut them into smaller pieces which is not a good idea with some slow release or capsules. Otherwise you can coat them in your favorite veggy oil of fat to make them sliplier.
Are you trying to swallow with your head in the normal position (your eyes looking straight ahead)? Try this instead - put the horse pill in your mouth, take a sip of water, raise your chin up and look at the ceiling - then swallow. The higher you tilt your chin, the more open your throat becomes.
thanks, yeah I tried tilting my head back but it really doesn’t work for me. I just let it go and it eventually goes away. Thanks everyone.
for some people, putting the water in then the pill and swallowing while looking down works better. At the very least a drink before taking the pillhelps–I take all mine with apple juice…helps the non-caoted ones not stick for me
Be sure to drink some water BEFORE you take the pills and then with the pill as well. I have had that problem on occasion as well. I try to drink a whole glass of water with my pills.
Swallow the pills with something bubbly - like diet pop. My husband has difficulty swallowing the smallest pills and this is the only thing that works for him. Hopes this helps.
