Multiple doctors

Hi everyone

I’ve been having a problem with excessive bleeding for about a month; since my “change” started over two years ago, my monthlies have been more like every six monthlies, so I wasn’t worried until it went on for over two weeks, getting heavier and passing huge clots. I was already scheduled to see a urologist and endocrinologist so I didn’t change those. My blood sugars have been running very good and my latest AIC was great, 6.1, down from 6.8.

I had waited 3 months to get into this endocrinologist; she’s said to be the best in the state of Indiana, so I’ll start with her. I came away with a good impression of her and a good report. She was very happy I’d gotten my cholesterol (bad 333 to 153) and my blood sugars down from 150 to 200 to 90 to 130. (I was diagnosed in October 2008). That evening we saw the stage production of Cats! at Beef N Boards in Indy and although I almost didn’t go because of the bleeding (still relentless); I took a chance and had a great time.

Today started with Dr. Rober; last week he did an IVP, yesterday I’d had an ultrasound on my right kidney and bladder and today he did a cystocopy and found NOTHING wrong (tumor, cancer, etc.) So as soon as I get the all clear from Dr. Murray about the bleeding, Dr. Rober is going to do a bladder lift to help with the incontinence. And I also found out he is a Christian, as is his staff; that was a double blessing, and I told him so.

Then this afternoon it was Dr. Murray; again he couldn’t do a pelvic exam because of numerous reasons so he had his tech do an ultrasound of the uterus. That revealed the culprit! Apparently a woman’s uterus is supposed to be about 7 cm; mine is 13 cm, with numerous fibroid tumors, including a giant 7 cm one, and the ovaries are enlarged and attached to the uterus. And the only way to take care of them, is a hysterectomy. Hallelujah! Those of you who have known me awhile are aware that I’ve always had a huge amount of problems with my periods; they’ve made me miserable all my life. I will be SO GLAD to finally be rid of them! The end of a 40 year torture!

Now, it’s back to Dr. McKissick on Monday (Murray’s office got me into him on Friday; I called and whined and begged and got in on Monday, LOL). As soon as I get the pre-op clearance from him, and updated blood work done, Dr. Murray will schedule the hysterectomy. I’ll let you know about it when that happens, hopefully next week. Right now I’m very fatigued and weak (wonder why…) so I’m trying to take it easy, but I still have to get out once in awhile so I don’t go stir crazy.
Praise God for His blessings!
