I am up for an insulin pump with my insurance in August. I currently use the One Touch Ping combined with the Dexcom G5 CGM system that I am very happy with.
Although the new Medtronic 670G sounds awesome, I am hesitant for the following reason. Being a woman, I wear my small One Touch ping pump in my underwear wrapped in a baby sock. This allows me to wear dresses (which I enjoy wearing a lot).
My animas ping pump comes with a remote. This allows me to bolus easily at a dinner or meeting table (remember I keep my small pump hidden in my underwear). I believe this pump is bigger (plus no remote) ā¦so where would one put a belt hook for a pump when I wear a dress (especially shorter dresses since I am small).
I know this is a very personal point, but it is important to me. I remember when I was scared to switch to a pump from needles, it was due to the forum when another woman suggested to me wrapping the pumps in a baby sock, hidden in underwear. That suggestion has been invaluable to me.
i have two Animas ping pumps that still work so I am thinking I can wait for newer technology. Donāt devices usually get smaller and better as time goes on, but maybe I am missing something?
It may come with a remote bolus, but there is no way to remotely read the cgm blood sugar from the pump. So you would have to dig out your pump to know your bs.
We were using the Animas Ping and Dexcom G5 and similar to you were quite happy with it and really like the remote. However due to an impending pump case failure we were no longer (reasonably) able to wait and felt the need to switch. We switched to the Tandem t:slim X2 and have of course kept the Dexcom G5. Currently we are waiting for the FDA to approve the X2/G5 integration and for Tandem to release this upgrade via remote software upgrade for existing X2 pumps.
As of 4/27/17, Tandem is publicly stating their launch goal for this update is āMid-2017ā although obviously this is at the discretion of when the FDA decides to take action. Hopefully soon.
Potentially you could stick with your Animas Ping a bit longer and see what what comes out in the next few months. Having two pumps that are functional certainly gives you more options.
Am not a woman , apologies for that. This has been a topic since the technology first came out
Couple different possibilities from what Iāve learned. Depends on the specifics of the given toy
Stockings with garters
Hang it between "the girls"
Small pocket sewn into the dress/skirt
A small exterior pouch the same color as the dress/purse
Havenāt heard of any new ideas since then but perhaps something else new exists.
Have not used one in years since the cat fell in love with the tubing and being a cat thought the invisible tubing was a mouseā¦
Often ate the tubing or better yet ripped the tubing, set clean off my body while Iām sleeping ā¦ a lot. 8 &
What about OmniPod in conjunction with a Dexcom? As a woman, I tell you it is MUCH easier with dresses. I think it has been on the market longer and is more ātried and true.ā Medtronic is late to market on their sensor tech. Rather than experimenting with new tech, and helping them discover bugs, you might prefer to use something that you already know āworks.ā
