Needing some prayers

I go back to the doctor in October, and they think I have some things wrong with my kidneys. They say I have too much protien in my urine. I’m only 16 and do not need this too… Please pray that it turns out to be nothing…thanks…

sending prayers -hugs to you!
they told me the same thing 25 years ago, still doing ok, just trying to keep the bgs in range, take my blood pressure meds, and don't eat huge quantities of meat

I'll pray for you. I hope you don't worry too much about this. Usually it takes years of high blood sugars to damage your kidneys. Some people actually just normally dump protein. My daughter does and when it was detected we took her to a nephrologist who did more extensive testing. In the end the dr concluded she was fine, she just was one of those people that dumped protein.

Myself on the other hand found out that you should not exercise 24-48 hours before a urine test. Doing so causes protein in my urine. Since I stopped exercising before the tests, all my tests have been fine.

I have confidence you will be fine.

Prayers and hugs and love to you sweetie. I agree, I know you will be fine.:HE is a healer, and will soothe your worries and concerns, and take cdare of your protein issue. Bsc just reported that he has protein dumps after exercising, and you are such an active girl..I know you were probably exercising prior to this testing.

God bless, you,Kelsey!!

Ill light a candle for you tomorrow Sunday at Church. Stay positive and strong...you will be just fine.

Savior and Redeemer, today we look to you for help. Place your hand on Kelsey and heal her Kidneys, replace any bad cells with healthy ones... In Jesus name we pray.....

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:12-13 (NIV)

I'll echo bsc and say that it would be surprising to see any sign of damage to your kidneys after less than a year of diabetes. 3 years ago, I had numbers that made my doctor think I was in stage II DKD for 6 months, but I've since had 8 straight check-ups with no sign of abnormal kidney function. The take home lesson for me was not to do heavy squats before a urinalysis.

If you're worried about an upcoming test in October, make sure you are well hydrated and rested up for the previous 24-48 hours. Go easy on the soda or anything else that could be a diuretic. What also helped me to get through that difficult period was to ask lot's of questions and really work to know what my numbers were and what they really meant. Hearing the doctor say "you have protein in your urine, bad" didn't cut it for me with my health decisions on the line.

Great advice here for you. Hope it goes well. I'm going for tests too because I was told I had early kidney damage. I'm hoping to reverse it.

Somewhere, probably a message board, maybe the ADA one I used to hang out at, I read that drinking lots of water is good for kidney problems so, whenever my BG gets up there, I'll pound a couple of glasses of water. I hope that the doctor is out of whack and doesn't find anything.

Hi Kelsey,

There is a time at services in my congregation to add someone's name to a prayer for healing. I'll add your name. Even if the kidneys are a false alarm - all of us with D can the use the help.

Take care,

Maurie

What number are they giving you based on which test? "Protein in the urine" is really general and even if the protein is present and verified, the number and type of test can give you a ton of information.

The same thing happened to me when I was 16! I cut down on the protein I was eating (protein was a snack for me most of the time, so that ended quickly). I was put on Coversyl, a high blood pressure med which helped to lower it. I have it tested annually, and hasn't been a problem since.

Even if the test comes back confirming protein in your kidneys, be empowered and take control of your ability to manage it! You're still young, and hopefully they've caught it early, so you can hopefully reverse it.
